Osama bin Laden’s son threatens the West, could be next al-Qaeda leader

Hamza bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s son, could become the next leader of the terrorist organisation al-Qaeda. Hamza, who is around 28 years old, recently called for attacks on the West, saying America will pay for killing his father.

FBI’s lead investigator of al-Qaeda after the 9/11 terror attacks, Ali Soufan, told CBS News that he examined documents seized from bin Laden’s Pakistan compound when he was killed by US Navy Seals in 2011, The Independent notes. Among them a letter from Hamza to his father.

“I remember every look… every smile you gave me, every word you told me,” a 22-year-old Hamza wrote to Osama bin laden, according to Soufan.

Now, the former FBI agent says, Hamza, who is about 28 years old, could be the next leader of al-Qaeda, as he ‘exhibited leadership skills early on’ and he recently delivered a series of speeches reminiscent of his father’s style.

“His recent message that came out, he delivered the speech as if it’s his father delivering the speech, using sentences, terminology that was used by Osama bin Laden. He’s basically saying, ‘American people, we’re coming and you’re going to feel it. And we’re going to take revenge for what you did to my father,” Soufan told CBS News.

Osama bin Laden’s son, who was a poster child for al-Qaeda, was recently designated a global terrorist and added to the US counter-terrorism blacklist.
