Lifestyle blogger killed by whipped cream dispenser

Lifestyle blogger Rebecca Burger has been killed by an exploding whipped cream dispenser.

The woman, 33, suffered a cardiac arrest after the gadget exploded and struck her chest. Her family announced her death on Facebook and Instagram, to her 200,000 followers, according to the Independent.

Health and fitness firm Women’s Best, who Burger modelled for, posted a tribute online. “We are sad to have to announce the loss of this wonderful soul. Our French athlete Rebecca Burger died yesterday,” they wrote. “Rebecca was a great athlete and a kind and generous person with whom to work. Pray for her to rest in peace and for her family to remain strong. We will always be proud of you Rebecca.”

The whipped cream canister was withdrawn from the market in 2013, as USA Today reports. The manufacturer of the kitchen product, Ard’time, said the product has not been on the market since a “first incident implicating a siphon” that occurred in February 2013. The company’s products were withdrawn from the market and destroyed, according to a company statement, and other efforts were made to alert consumers. “Unfortunately, there are still lots of siphons of all brands that remain potentially dangerous as time passes,” the company said.

One victim of an exploding cream dispenser told RTL radio in 2013 they “had six broken ribs and a broken sternum. “At the hospital, I was told that if the shock and blast had been facing the heart, I would be dead now,” the victim said, according to BBC.

A number of accidents prompted the government office for consumers to issue a warning, telling people that accidents go back to 2010 and can occur at any time, even after years of use.
