Chloë Grace Moretz recalls being body-shamed at 15 by older male co-star

Chloë Grace Moretz, 20, has shared her experience of being body shamed by a male co-star a few years ago.

In an interview with Variety, Moretz – known for her roles in Kick Ass, Carrie and If I Stay – recounted an incident when an actor she was working with said she was “too big” for him to be attracted to her. “This guy that was my love interest was like, ‘I’d never date you in real life,’ and I was like, ‘What?’” Moretz recounted. “And he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re too big for me’ — as in my size.”

Moretz went on to reveal that he was one of the only actors that ever made her cry on set. She decided not to name the actor and only said that he was “23, 24 or 25” and she was just 15 at the time. “I went bawling to my brother and he was like, ‘What happened?’ And I was like, ‘He told me I was too big.’ And my brother was like, ‘What just happened?’ My brother was so angry,” Moretz said.

“I had to pick it up and go back on set and pretend he was a love interest, and it was really hard,” Moretz added. “It just makes you realise that there are some really bad people out there and for some reason, he felt the need to say that to me. You have to kind of forgive and not forget really, but it was just like wow. It was jarring. I look back on it and I was 15, which is really, really dark.”

This was not the only incident of this nature, as Moretz said that on another shoot, one male co-star playing a different love interest made up stories about her in order to impress the director, according to the Independent.
