The extreme diets of A-listers
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that our favourite A-listers have some tricks up their sleeves when it comes to staying fit. Take a look at this list and find out the lengths celebrities are willing to go in order to fit into society’s version of “beautiful”.
Marilyn Monroe’s Grapefruit Diet
This is a diet that has been around since the 1930s and a favourite among classic Hollywood stars, according to the Independent, and includes eating half a grapefruit before every meal. The diet is centered on the idea that grapefruits contain a fat-burning enzyme that boosts the metabolism.
Madonna’s Air Diet
This diet stems from the French concept of breatharianism, that supports the idea that air alone can keep our bodies active. It involves sitting in front of food, placing a piece onto a fork, holding it up to your mouth, but not eating it. Instead, you have to make do with water and salt soup.
Beyonce’s Lemonade Diet
In order to look so svelte in the movie “Dreamgirls“, Beyonce had to abandon all solid foods and survive on a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water for 14 days. The mixture supposedly detoxifies the body – although this process happens everyday, unaided by diets – and stimulates tissue growth.
Renee Zellweger’s Ice Diet
Renee Zellweger prefers to fill up on ice in order to prevent the pounds from non-water based foods to pile on.
Megan Fox’s Apple Cider Vinegar Diet
Although drinking apple cider before every meal doesn’t sound like a dream, Megan Fox swears by this method. It supposedly gives your metabolism a boost and helps your body get rid of excess water weight and burn calories faster.
Christina Aguilera’s Seven-Day Colour Diet
This diet means you get to eat one colour of food per day of the week. For instance, Monday is reserved for white food, Tuesday for red food, Wednesday for green food and so on.
Adriana Lima’s Victoria’s Secret Angel Diet
This diet is usually undertaken nine days before a runway show. It implies omitting all solid foods and subsisting solely on protein shakes, supplements and vitamins. Furthermore, you have to work out twice a day and, 12 hours before the show starts, stop drinking liquids entirely to drain the excess fluids from your body.
