It’s the most anticipated week in the fashion industry. Fashion Week. With four major cities, New York, London, Paris, and Milan, all getting the coveted prize of hosting the most famous and glamorous catwalks in the world. From Calvin Klein, to Chanel, New York is ready to begin what is an already very talked about, fashion week.
It’s here. Fashion’s most talked about month. Fashion Week. Where designers go and showcase their most latest and up to the minute wear for all to see and talk about. What is a series of global style weeks for the whole world to see, New York lines up first in a lineup of fashion capitals from around the world.
Designers are ready and the city that never sleeps has it’s catwalk ready. New York Fashion week kicks off this Thursday with over 100 designers showing off their collections for the Spring 2018 season. A bit early, don’t you think? Not in fashion. Designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Thom Browne and Calvin Klein all will be showcasing their latest wear for the world to see.

The six-day event, spread throughout all the city, has been shortened to six days rather than a week. The reason being to give buyers and editors more time to fly over to the next city and event, London Fashion Week. It will follow right after New York, and start on September 15th.
With such spectacular and memorable events, comes exhaustion, the reason being such a jam packed schedule. Steven Kolb, President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, explained the perspective of fashion weeks. Four weeks in four cities is practically a month of non stop work, traveling, and fittings, becoming a whole process.
Fashionistas, on and off the runway, are expected to be showcasing blue ribbons this year. The ribbons symbolizes people’s rights and is in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union. People should have the right to live the life they chose, and that is the theme that will be played out throughout this fashion week. The ribbons will have the NYFW initials at fashion week, although ribbons have already been spotted on red carpets throughout the year. Last year’s ribbon was pink, in support of Planned Parenthood.
