Another Royal Baby is on the way!
Just a couple days after the solemn 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, happy news comes from the Royal Family as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they are expecting their third child, making him or her the fifth in line to the throne and giving Prince George and Princess Charlotte the title of ‘older siblings’.
On Monday, Kensington Palace released a statement that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child. The announcement came after Catherine had to cancel an engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London. She is currently being cared for at the couple’s apartment in Kensington Palace.
Just like her last two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is extreme morning sickness. Not a typical morning sickness during a pregnancy, hyperemesis gravidarum involves a lot of nausea and vomiting at the early stages of pregnancy. It has also been speculated, from her last two pregnancies, that there could be a small chance twins are expected, as the illness is more common in women expecting twins.
Once again the couple were forced to make the announcement earlier than planned, as she is believed to not be past the 12 week mark just yet. Earlier in the morning, the Duchess canceled her visit to the children’s centre, followed shortly by the announcement that she was pregnant. Both of her pregnancies were forced out due to her condition. With Prince George, the duchess chose to be treated at London’s King Edward VII hospital, while with Princess Charlotte, and the new royal baby she is being treated at the couple’s apartment in Kensington Palace.
Regardless of the baby’s sex, she or he will be the fifth in line to the throne, behind the big sister Charlotte, and big brother George, also bumping uncle Harry down a spot to sixth. After William and Catherine’s wedding, a change of law came into place by the queen, that granted women the same rights of accession to the throne, putting less pressure on Catherine to have a boy back in 2013.
The third royal baby will be the sixth great grandchild for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
