Three hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean
A dangerous trio of hurricanes are boiling in the Atlantic Ocean, causing fear among residents in the Caribbean, Mexico and parts of the United States. The three hurricanes have been described as dangerous and powerful and have caused a wave of concern among meteorologists and scientists.
Irma, Jose, and Katia. What do they all have in common? They are churning up worry and havoc in several parts of the Atlantic Ocean. The three quickly developed hurricanes are giving residents a scare as thousands have evacuated their homes in order to be safe. With Hurricane Irma becoming a category five storm, Hurricane Jose becoming a category one storm, and Hurricane Katia just forming on the Mexican gulf, meteorologists have had more than average busy hurricane season.
As hurricane Irma bears towards the Caribbean and what could be soon into Florida, all eyes are on this catastrophic storm. Winds have exceeded the 185 mph speeds in some islands, the storm is expected to take a turn up north towards Florida causing concern and worry among most residents. Governor Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency and has ordered for both sides of the state to be evacuated in order to ensure safeness.
Irma isn’t along however, behind her is Hurricane Jose which is a quickly strengthening storm with winds up to 75 mph. It has upgraded to a category one hurricane and is expected to become a major hurricane on Friday. The only good news about this hurricane is that it is expected to go out into sea, as many meteorologists are predicting. As of Thursday, no coastal warning and watches were in effect.
In the gulf of Mexico, there is another hurricane forming. Hurricane Katia has winds of 75 mph and is moving Southeast towards Mexico at 3 mph. For Texans who are reeling from Hurricane Harvey, it has come across as a scare, although the storm is not set to go up north to Texas rather more into Mexico. Veracruz to Laguna Verde are all under a hurricane watch.
Although three hurricanes in the Atlantic is alarming and has people worried, it is not the first time. Back in 2010, there were three hurricanes in the Atlantic as well, which included category one storm, hurricane Igor. In 1998, four hurricanes formed in the Atlantic at the same time including Hurricane Georges, which was a category four storm that caused a lot of damage in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
