Kinder Eggs are making their way to America after decades of being banned
Kinder Surprise Eggs are considered a small treasure in Europe. Americans have been missing out on them due to the FDA restrictions, that banned them in the ’70s for presenting a choking hazard, as Cosmopolitan reports.
Italian candymaker Ferrero revealed that a special version of the eggs will be launched in the US in 2018. The surprise eggs have previously been available on the “black market“, according to CNN. The new eggs, however, called Kinder Joy will be legally sold in the U.S. starting January 2018.
The original surprise egg included a toy wrapped inside the chocolate egg shell. Kinder Joy comes with two individually wrapped halves, one with a surprise toy inside, and another with chocolate cream, two wafer balls and a tiny scoop, according to ScaryMommy.
While the new egg is not the classic the rest of the world enjoys, kids will surely love it. The separate compartiment for the toy also makes it safer.
