Home Secretary Amber Rudd: “Manchester will not be bowed or divided by barbaric attack” – VIDEO

The Home Secretary Amber Rudd issued a statement after the Manchester attack calling the explosion a “barbaric attack” and stressed that the city’s has been affected by terrorism before but“its spirit was not bowed; its community continued”.

The official condemned last night’s blast, saying it targeted “some of the most vulnerable in our society – young people and children out at a pop concert.”

“This time it has been a particular attack on the most vulnerable in our society – its intention was to sow fear – its intention is to divide. But it will not succeed”, added Rudd.

The Home Secretary also expressed support for the families and the victims affected by the attack. In addition, Rudd paid tribute to the emergency services who intervened quickly and worked throughout the night to offer help the injured people.

In the official statement, Rudd also said she will be attending the COBRA meeting chaired by Prime Minister Theresa May in order to collect more information about the attack.

The explosion occurred at Manchester Arena at about 10.35 last night after a concert by US pop singer Ariana Grande, killing at least 2 and injuring 59 other.
