It’s really annoying when you walk into another room and suddenly have no idea what you went in there for, but usually that feeling only lasts a few minutes and you either remember or forget all about it, but that has not been the case for US President Donald Trump.
For the past several months he has had a constant nagging feeling that he’d forgotten about something, a feeling which has doubtless kept him awake at night and hindered his ability to truly act as leader of the free world. You can only begin to imagine his joy when he finally remembered that he had been wanting to fire FBI Director James Comey.
Way back in the middle of last year Director Comey made a glaring blunder when dealing the Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal that so upset President Trump that he vowed to fire the director should Mr. Trump win the election. Sure he put on a happy face about it and publicly supported Director Comey but that’s politics, inside Mr. Trump was clearly fuming.

The real snag came when, after President Trump’s election he was so busy that he forgot all about his plan to fire Comey and even his frequent meetings with the FBI Director have failed to remind him. Now, finally President Trump can rest easy as he has finally remembered to fire the now former-director, and can get back to the business of running the country.
Unfortunately for the forgetful President it appears he didn’t completely remember as some news outlets are reporting that he forgot to actually tell Director Comey he was fired, leaving the head of the FBI to learn about his firing from a TV broadcast.
Of course, there is one minor issue, now that Mr. Comey has been fired, President Trump is left in the unfortunate position that he now needs to find someone to replace the director in leading the investigation into the Russia/Trump investigation. Still, once a completely fair and impartial replacement has been found to head up the FBI and the investigation then we can all be sure that President Trump can finally get a much deserved good nights sleep.
Even better for the President, who has repeated attempted to compare himself to former US Presidents, he can now add Richard Nixon to the list.
