French parliamentary Corinne Erhel dies campaigning for Macron
A socialist lawmaker, Corinne Erhel, died after collapsing on stage during a speech at a campaign rally for French presidential frontrunner Emmanuel Macron, according to party officials.
She was the last to speak at the rally Friday in western France when she suddenly fell to the ground. The 50 year old was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“A member of parliament since 2007, she was fully invested in her parliamentary work, while still remaining close to the people,” said socialist President Francois Hollande.

Erhel was part of Macron’s centrist political movement “En Marche” (”On the Move”). Polls predict that Macron will beat his far-right rival Marine Le Pen in tomorrow’s decisive run-off.
