U.S. army base lifts Lockdown

After calls claiming an active shooter was in a building on a military base in northern Alabama caused a lockdown, further investigation reveals the claims were false and the lockdown was lifted.

In northern Alabama, the Redstone Arsenal post was locked down for several hours Tuesday to allow authorities to investigate reports of a shooter in one of the buildings.

Two separate calls were made around nine that morning. One of the calls made a claim that shots had been fired from a building within perimeter of the base. The second caller stated someone had been seen with a weapon. Authorities responded quickly by closing the base down, not allowing anyone to enter or exit the compound, then arrived to the Redstone Arsenal post.

A search ensued from building to building as authorities tried locating the shooter by clearing every room in each structure. Once every building was found to be safe and secure, the lockdown was lifted and proceedings were returned to normal.

Authorities were able to pinpoint where the callers had placed the calls, finding both had been made from one of the buildings within the Redstone Arsenal post. No further leads have been revealed, and no arrests have been made at this time.
