Dalai Lama says inner peace can help achieve world peace

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has a formula for world peace in our war torn world which encompasses reaching for inner peace.

In a world where tensions worldwide bring fears of a third world war possibly breaking out on a daily basis His Holiness the Dalai Lama feels that a search for inner peace can help us envision world peace. Tibet Sun reports the Dalai Lama says that we must achieve world peace from inner peace.

The Dalai Lama made this comment at a commencement speech at the University of California, San Diego on June 17. The primary theme of his speech was that world peace actually depends on inner peace. It is the feeling of the Dalai Lama that global issues can not be solved by people without first caring for your emotional well being.

The Dalai Lama takes the position that it is essential to combine warmheartedness with a brilliant brain that is nurtured by good education in order to meet the objectives of inner peace and world peace.These positive attitudes are anticipated to make people calmer and happier and therefore lead to more friendships.

It has been reported by the Central Tibetan Administration that the Dalai Lama does not feel education alone can nurture inner peace and world peace. He focused on how vital he feels being warmhearted is during his speech at the University of California, San Diego.

The choice of the Dalai Lama as UCSD’s commencement speaker was very controversial. His presence was protested by many Chinese students who take the position that he is a separatist and trouble maker who wants to split Tibet away from China. However, the Dalai Lama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, says this is not true. It is his position that he has a firm commitment to working for peace with China and worldwide.
