The US generated 10% of its electricity from solar and wind
America is getting increasingly more energy from renewable sources, according to the United States Energy Information Administration. In March, the country generated 10% of its total electricity from solar power and wind power.
In 2016, renewable sources made only 7% of America’s electricity generation. Increased generating capacity allowed the US to get more clean power, according to Inhabitat. The EIA observed seasons had an impact on how much clean energy can be generated from renewables. Wind electricity peaks in spring in Texas and Oklahoma, while in California it peaks in summer. Meanwhile, solar output is best in the summer.
Data from 2016 showed that wind generated more power than solar did in almost every state, as EIA noted. Only California and Arizona obtained more power from solar than wind. Texas was the state that generated most wind energy. Furthermore, Iowa generated 37% of its power from renewables, making it the state with most renewable sources. Other six states managed to generate 20% of power from wind and solar.
