Family of London attack victim defies terrorists in public statement

Police have named another of the eight victims of the London terrorist attack and the family of the 32-year-old British national offered a statement in which they defy terrorists and say ‘hatred is the refuge of small minded individuals.’

James McMullan was a British national who was living in London and out in the Capital the evening of the terrorist attack. James was one of the eight people killed during the June 3 events.

His family offered a statement in which they send their condolences to the relatives and loved ones of all the others who lost their lives. In the same statement, James’ family says they will not give and follow the course terrorists would want them to.

“While our pain will never diminish it is important for all of us to carry on with our lives in direct opposition to those who would try to destroy us and remember that hatred is the refuge of small minded individuals and will only breed more – this is not a course we will follow, despite our loss,” the family said.

Eight people were killed and 48 were injured, including four unarmed police officers, after three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge. Wielding knives, the men then left the van and went to the nearby Borough Market area, where they stabbed people in and around restaurants and pubs.

Police have made more than a dozen arrests in the wake of the London Bridge attacks, but most have now been released without charge.
