Police close off London’s Trafalgar square over “suspicious item”
British police said officers had closed off Trafalgar Square in central London on Thursday after reports that a suspicious item had been found in a nearby street.

A police spokesman said specialist officers had been sent to the area and the nearby Charing Cross railway station had also been closed as a precaution.

The Metropolitan Police was called due to reports of a suspicious item in Charing Cross but the incident it is not being treated as terrorist related.

The Metropolitan Police announced that they will reopen the area soon.
