ISIS claims responsibility for London Bridge attacks
ISIS claims responsibility for the three attackers who carried out the London Bridge atrocity.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the London Bridge attacks in a statement posted on it Amaq news and media outlet.
Amaq confirmed ISIS’s role in this further atrocity on British soil with its statement, “A detachment of fighters executed yesterday’s London attack.”
The attack on Saturday night had been unprecedented in its approach adding to further fear and panic across the country. 48 people were reportedly injured with some of them critically in the attack.
Amaq, the media arm of ISIS has been at the forefront of spreading terrorist propaganda and has served as the voice of ISIS on the tech frontier. Its founder Rayaan Meshall was killed in a U.S. led air strike at the end of May in the city of Al-Mayadin.
In the London Bridge attack, three individuals drove a white van into pedestrians and pub goers before jumping out decked in what appeared to be bomb vests before attacking people randomly with knives stabbing and slashing to create panic.
Police forces responded with amazing speed and the three attackers were brought down in a hail of bullets with claims of over 50 bullets being fired in order to rapidly bring the situation under control. The terrorists were found to be wearing fake bomb vests.
In subsequent raids in the East London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Police have arrested up to 12 associated individuals for questioning thought a number of them have been released. Residents reported sharpshooters on rooftops and masked policemen crashing open doors to access properties and arrest these individuals.
The attack victims included German, French, Canadian, Australian and Spanish citizens amongst them bringing the tragedy to other countries outside of Britain.
