The governor made the mistake of thinking that he had the Jersey Shore all to himself on Independence Day weekend, but he was sadly mistaken.
Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, ordered the closure of 40 New Jersey state parks, beaches, and other tourist attractions as a result of a budget standoff on Friday; forcing all of the New Jersey residents to celebrate Independence Day at home this year.
However, this only provided an opportunity for Governor Christie and family to spend their Sunday on the beach by themselves, causing uproar nationwide once revealed on social media. Some now speculate that the shutdown was only done so Christie could have a work-free weekend to enjoy the beach alone.

If true then this act ranks high as one of the biggest abuses of power in history. A beach house at Island Beach State Park is one of the official governor’s residences in New Jersey, and Christie had been open about his belief that he had a right to use the beach house despite the shutdown.
This shutdown is over a health insurance battle with New Jersey’s Democrat legislature. Just in time for the holiday weekend, Christie ordered the shutdown of all nonessential government.
