A boy that was only fifteen goes over a friend’s house and accidentally shoots himself in Long Island.
At first, Derek Cosmo was at friend’s house at Glen Cove on Wednesday night waiting for either his Aunt or Mom to come pick him up. Then, suddenly a few moments after that, the gun had went off shooting Derek and he was died shortly after.
The cops had said the gun’s owner had a permit for the firearm. The neighbors had said a retired Nassau County correction officer lives in the home where the tragedy took place. The last conversation that Derek had with his mother was through text messages saying “Do you think you can pick me up at 8?”. Derek had send that text to his mother at 6:40p.m.

When his mother finally answered the text back she said “Where you at?” Then it took her another ninety minutes to say “Coming now”. Then, Derek’s mother noticed something was wrong and texted again saying “You not answering you walking?”.
When the mother finally showed up, she was not aware of what was going on. The only thing that was going on in the mother’s head was the fact that she was the last person to have a conversation with her son and that she was going to show up between 6:40pm and 8pm. But, all the mother saw, by the time she showed up, was the ambulance at the house and she still didn’t know that something happened to her son.
