This supermarket sells UK’s most expensive vegetable for just £1

Morrisons announced they will sell UK’s most expensive vegetable for just £1 this season. This will make the supermarket the cheapest place to buy a pack of asparagus in Britain, according to Mirror.

However, the retailer announced there is one catch. Customers can buy the 180 g pack of asparagus at this cheap price due to an increase in wonky stock, a result of a part of the crop growing in differently.

Asparagus is normally sold for £1.75 for a bundle (250g) and is prized for its perfect upright spear, but if the way it looks is not a concern then you can pick up one for less.

The expensive vegetable is part of a fourteen-strong wonky fruit and vegetable range – now on sale for the first time at the supermarket.

Michael Weightman, Asparagus Buyer at Morrisons said: “We’ve stepped in to buy the crop as we wanted to help growers and put this normally luxury ingredient into the hands of shoppers for just a pound.”
