First underwater ship lounge revealed

A company just revealed the world’s first cruise ship to be equipped with a multi-sensory underwater space and the images are amazing.

Ponant company announced that Le Lapérouse will be the first cruise ship on Earth to be equipped with a multi-sensory underwater space, called Blue Eye.

The room has graphical references that evoke whales and jellyfish and the main focus is drawn towards the two portholes, shaped like the eye of a cetacean and looking out upon the subaquatic world.

And the tourists will not only be able to witness the spectacle of the underwater world right before their eyes but will also be treated to a series of films as the room features integrated digital screens projecting the images filmed live by three underwater cameras. Placed at the ship’s strategic points, these cameras enable guests to witness, for example, the spectacle of dolphins playing in the bow waves.

The experience is brought to a new level by vibrating sofas and a sound system made to capture the acoustics of the sea, offering a unique sensory journey.

Travelers will also be able to observe bioluminescent organisms with the help of non-intrusive lighting, the company said.

Le Lapérouse cruise ship will not be the only one to be featured with the new type or room. Ponant announced that three other ships, Le Champlain, Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d’Urville will be the next to feature the Blue Eye.
