Asgardia, the first ”space nation”, sends its Constitution into the Cosmos – VIDEO
Asgardia, the first ”space nation”, will send this year its Constitution into the Cosmos with the help of a satellite, Russian scientist and leader of the nation Igor Ashurbeyli announced, according to Engadget.
Known as ”The Space Nation”, Asgardia was officially founded at the end of last year, on October 12. If you are an Asgardian, the date is October 5, as the nation has its own 13-month calendar, with each month having 28 days and the extra month is called Asgard.
The ”nation” received over 100,000 applications for citizenship in the first 40 hours since being launched, and it now has over 200,000 members, according to its website. The applications are still open.
Asgardia announced in a conference held in Hong Kong that starting with this year it will officially be present in space, once its first satellite called Asgardia-1 is launched.
It will be carried by SpaceX to the International Space Station, from where it will be launched into space. The satellite is to orbit the Earth at an altitude of around 400 kilometers and will have on board around 500 GB of information, including the Constitution of Asgardia, legal documents, and its symbols. The satellite will be controlled from Houston, USA.
Asgardia is planning for a second satellite to be launched in 2018.
