Nutrifix app revolutionises healthy eating on-the-go

Trying to follow a weight-loss diet can be challenging, especially when you lead a busy lifestyle. People often find themselves failing because they don’t have the time to prepare meals in advance and as a result gravitate towards the wrong foods when they eat out.

It is difficult to know which restaurants and vendors serve food inline with your dietary goals, especially during lunch breaks or when going out for dinner in the evening.

To address this problem, former semi-professional rugby player Joel Burgess has created an app called Nutrifix, which locates healthy meals nearby and tailor’s recommendations to user’s individual needs. Billed as the “pocket Nutritionist”, the app aims to take the fuss out of healthy eating on-the-go, with user’s simply required to provide their weight and goals and leaving the app to do the rest.

Nutrifix is expanding rapidly with data for over 3,500 meals from nearly 9,700 locations and 69 vendors. They were recently backed by Just Eat, completing their 10-week inaugural food tech accelerator programme. They also write a regular blog with health tips for busy people, which currently has more than 1,200 subscribers.

In March, they launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Crowdcube platform, exceeding their £150,000 target, with over £200,000 raised from nearly 380 investors.

According to the Nutrifix team, the money will be used to expand their growth and launch a marketing initiative: “The money we have raised will allow us to build an engaging product which solves an everyday problem, drives revenues from affiliates and proves unit metrics so we can raise a big seed round. This will allow us to grow rapidly and internationally.”
