An orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in the Yoruba Religion. It grows in tropical and warm areas like Africa, the Caribbean, South America, parts of Asia and the Amazon. The fruit is bitter in taste, with a slimy texture on the inside. When ripe, the fruit takes on a bright and orange color that makes it look like a gem, and on the inside the seeds take a perfectly round shape with bright red nectar.

The external use of the boiled seeds of the fruit serves to relieve any skin problems, burns and rashes. The dry leaves of the plant can be toasted and ground to apply as a salve to the burns. To treat diabetes it is recommended to prepare a tea with an equal amount of cundeamor leaves and avocado leaves. Then proceed to drink the tea as water for two or three consecutive days. You can also just eat the small fruit once a day or drink two ounces of the extract daily. For any other treatments, it is recommended to boil 30 grams of leaves for each liter of water and not drink more than three cups a day.
