Why every girl needs aloe gel on her shelf
Aloe vera gel can actually do wonders beyond treating sun burns
If you’re only aware of aloe vera gel’s benefit as an effective treatment for sunburn, you are missing out. This amazing gel has been widely used in beauty products over the past few years. It contains antibacterial properties that can help to soothe, moisturise and heal the skin. Here are a few ways to make use of this translucent liquid.
1. Face moisturiser
This is great for those who have oily skin as aloe does not leave a greasy feeling. Rejuvenate your skin by mixing in either a few drops of tea tree oil to prevent acne, or rosehip oil to reduce dark spots and fade scars.
2. Hair treatment
Substitute your chemical hair products with aloe gel to prevent dry hair. Apply an adequate amount on the ends of a damp hair for a lovely shine and also to avoid tangled hair. It also provides heat protection so you can style your hair without worries!
3. Face mask
Slather some gel on your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes every night before washing it off for a dewy skin. You can also make your own brightening mask by combining one tablespoon of aloe gel and a few drops of lemon juice. Alternatively, combat acne problems with a mask made from one tablespoon of gel and honey.
4. After-shave cream
Shaving strips off moisture from your skin, leaving it itchy, bumpy and irritated. Aloe gel works wonders in calming sensitive and dry skin after shaving. It also provides great moisture to the skin and can help prevent razor burns and ingrown hairs.
5. Lighten dark lips
Apply a thin layer of gel every day for pink and luscious lips. The antioxidants in the gel help to brighten the lips and the moisturising property is great in treating dry and chapped lips. Rub your lips with it to remove dirt and impurities as well.
