Andrographis paniculata is the scientific name of Green chirayta. This herb was forgotten for many years and then rediscovered again after people started realising its medicinal benefits. According to Dr. Paul Haider, Andrographis is one of the best medicine for Dengue. However, According to the Mayo Clinic Book of Alternative Medicine, pregnant women are not supposed to consume this. Green chirayta can be grown in a sunny location. The seeds are usually sown during May and June.

Dr Selvin Innocent Dhas, president of Indian Siddha Medical Graduates Association says “Several patients, who self-medicated themselves with the medicine, came to me with complaints of diarrhoea and vomiting. In severe cases of dengue where patients suffer dehydration, the medicine can be deadly.” So the right proportion of the drug should be used after consulting a doctor.
