VIDEO: Hunter Sees Bear Charging Towards Him and Decides to Attack Back

When you think of a bear you imagine a huge furry creature that has amazing power and could kill a man with ease. You know a bit about how they act and what they eat and how you should protect yourself from them, but you don’t really think about the fact that you might actually get to meet one up close and personal.

But this actually happens to some people, but while most of them run or hide a man decided to take the bear head on. He didn’t see the bear coming and wasn’t expecting to be face to face so soon so he reacted just as he would have reacted if a man would have appeared right in his face prepared to attack him.

According to dailymail.co.uk, the terrifying moment a hunter was attacked by a charging black bear in Canada has been captured on camera.

Richard Wesley, from Hearst, Ontario, was hunting in Fire River when he spotted a large bear about 100 feet away.

Wesley’s video, which he uploaded on Monday, starts by showing the bear meandering around and seemingly unaware he was nearby.

But as the bear begins walking towards where he is, Wesley – who is holding a bow – attempts to scare the animal off by standing up and making a loud noise.

He then starts backpedaling while continuing to shout, but the bear is undeterred and charges straight for Wesley.

It then makes a terrifying leap directly at Wesley, seemingly at about shoulder or neck height.

Thankfully, the video shows the hunter was able to deflect the animal’s mouth with his bow, before he went tumbling to the ground.
Wesley dropped his camera at that point, but it was still recording as he wrestled with the animal.

The brawl off-camera could be heard for about 15 seconds, before the Canadian hunter picked up his camera and ran to safety.

‘I should have shot a long time ago,’ he said into the camera.
It is unclear whether the bear was dead or alive after the scuffle.

‘I am so happy after this confrontation with a black bear during our spring hunt,’ Wesley wrote in a caption with the video.

‘No wounds except a bruised elbow and ego where the bear threw me down.
‘Genuinely happy that this was a non fatal or tragic outcome. Proving that the black bear is a wild and unpredictable animal. Again so happy with the outcome.’

Black bears are the most common breed of bear in the world. It is estimated there are about 600,000 in North America. But even so they rarely come at people this way and they roam the forests in places where people don’t usually go.

Even if they are huge creatures, they don’t usually attack, but this doesn’t mean that you should let your guard down and venture to those parts. Always be on the lookout and take care of yourself. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
