VIDEO: A Father at Just 13. But When You Find Out About the Mother… OMG
He was just a boy of 13 when he was told that his girlfriend was pregnant. His girlfriend was two years older. Everything turned against them.
The child didn’t know what was going on he decided he wanted to take care of the child. But after some time it turned out that Alfie wasn’t the father after all. His girlfriend had slept with another boy the same age and after a DNA test it was confirmed that the other boy was the father.
According to mirror.co.uk, when little Alfie Patten’s mum says he is still a virgin you wonder if he even knows what that means. His face is still a picture of innocence – two years after the explosion of publicity in which he was hailed as “Britain’s youngest dad” at the age of 13.
The 4ft 4ins schoolboy was reported to be the father after his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, 15, gave birth to Maisie. Mates were slapping him on the back but the downside was Alfie’s mother Nicola became lambasted as the UK’s worst parent.
Even after a DNA test proved Alfie was NOT the father, it took a while for the family to get back to anything like normal life.
Nicola, 45, said of her famous son, now 15: “Alfie was and still is a virgin. And the good news is he wants to stay that way until he’s at least 18.”
Mum-of-four Nicola, who split from Alfie’s dad Dennis, said: “Alfie truly believed he was a dad. I asked him repeatedly if he was sure about this. Was he certain he had lost his virginity and could be the father of a child?
Two years after the scandal he is still under the height limit for the “big” rides at Chessington World of Adventures, his favourite place.
Looking back to 2009, Nicola said: “His voice hadn’t even broken. Then he told me he was going to be a dad.
All the press cuttings and a collection of written offers from TV companies are glued into a brown paper scrapbook on the family’s kitchen table.
On the cover the headline “Dad at 13” is plastered across a photo of Alfie and the baby, who wears a romper suit with the words: “I love mummy and daddy.”
The word “mummy” has been scratched out with a blue biro, and a “No 1” has been added underneath the word “daddy”.
The boy is not all that interested in the book, a memento of the four days in which he dominated the news agenda. But his mum looks at it most days.
Alfie said: “When I found out about the DNA I was sad at first. I suppose if you want something that badly you make yourself believe it’s true.
After widespread reports of the tug-of-love battle for fatherhood, Alfie’s name became a byword for broken Britain – all ignorance and teenage pregnancies.
Nicola and Dennis, 47, were publicly bombarded with criticism about their parenting.
