VIDEO: Firefighter Helps Delievering Baby on Rescue Call, Then Adopts Him

Marc Hadden and his wife already have two babies, but they wanted the third one to be a girl. The doctors told them the pregnancy would be too risky, so they gave up hope. But life happened, so Marc attended a call where a woman was in labor. After birth, the baby was put for adoption, so Marc and his wife didn’t think twice and took the baby girl home. Such a touching story!

It takes a certain kind of bravery to be a firefighter. In addition to a willingness to put one’s life on the line in high-pressure situations, there’s also a certain risk-taking streak that seems to come with the territory. Though a job like that can lead to any number of unpredictable situations, the one Marc Hadden found himself in on a normal November night was one to remember. He and his crew had just gotten what they thought was a normal emergency call, but what they found there was anything but normal.
What they thought to be a normal emergency call turned out to be an unusual one—it was a pregnant woman who had gone into labor without enough time to make it to the hospital. As a result, Hadden had to step in and help the woman deliver the baby himself. Fortunately, the baby was born safe and sound and was named Grace. Marc called his wife Beth shortly after who reported that he was ecstatic. “Who gets to deliver a baby in their lifetime that’s not a doctor?” she said for

As it turns out, the story goes even deeper. Marc and Beth had been married for some time and already had two sons, Will and Parker. The Haddens wanted to have a third but were told by doctors that they were unable to for medical reasons. Although an adoption seemed to be a reasonable next step, the pair decided to wait rather than take action. According to Beth, they wanted to “[leave] it in God’s hands.”

If readers will allow us a pun, what happened next was truly an instance of grace. Stories like this that involve incredible coincidences always stop us in our tracks. It’s often all too easy to get lost in our own lives, wondering what the meaning of everything is. As Marc’s story shows, when you show up in the moment and open yourself to other people, incredible things can and do happen.
