VIDEO: Watch What This Comedian Says About Holding Hands In Church

Being affectionate in church isn’t that approved, since it is considered to be disrespectful to the act of worshiping God. Nevertheless, this didn’t stop various people from expressing their opinion on the matter, and one of them is comedian Tim Hawkins.
Get a good laugh in today with Christian Comedian Tim Hawkins talking about holding hands in church. If you thought that religion and comedy can’t go well together you were really wrong. Tim Hawkins is specialized in this kind of humor and he puts a funny spin on everything that’s related to faith and the church.
This time he chose to focus on something that people sometimes do in church. In some churches across the world people sometimes are told or spontaneously decide to hold hands during the sermon. While in a way this action is quite beautiful because they sediment the idea of a community and all of us as a whole in the eyes of God, it’s actually pretty weird.
Tim Hawkins explains how he feels when he is in a situation where he has to hold hands in church. He imagines a situation in which he has to hold hands with an unknown man. He thinks about the size of the man’s hands, about the fact that he seems to have more fingers than normal, about how he doesn’t know whether the man has a mole or if it’s just dirt. He doesn’t know whether it’s his sweat or the sweat of the other man. He thinks about squeezing the man’s hand every time it’s time to say Amen.
All in all a pretty weird experience. The worst part being that you can’t even pay attention to the sermon and you can’t connect with God because you feel as if you have an attention deficit disorder and you can’t focus on anything. And this is the whole point in church to be able to focus your entire attention on what the priest is saying and to be able to talk to God in silence without being interrupted by anything else.
In this situation, you are better off not going to church and praying at home so that no one will disturb you because if you can’t pay attention then you’ve gone to church for nothing. You have to show the proper respect to the sacred house of God and not let earthly things ruin your focus. This is the place in which you have to step outside of yourself and try to be the person you should be and get as close as you can to God.
This is the reason why Tim Hawkins is upset as well and he decided to share this with his audience through comedy because when things are presented as not being that serious that’s when people are more susceptible to it.
Watch what he has to say about this seemingly innocent act and think about it. Do you think that people should hold hands in church?
