VIDEO: Young Girl Says Mom Ran Red Light Because She Was Frightened

In September 2016, a mom accompanied by her young daughter went to court to contest a ticket she got for running a red light. Judge Caprio had the little girl join him on the bench. He found out a lot about her and they reviewed the tape of the mom running the red light together. Instead of asking the woman to defend herself, the judge turned to the little girl and asked her why she thinks her mother ran the red light. She took her time, then revealed that her mom was scared by the man standing on the street at the light. She was so cute and funny that Judge Caprio was willing to give Mom a break
Those that are from Rhode Island probably know all about Judge Frank Caprio a man that’s funny, fair, and generous, a judge who isn’t afraid to bend some rules in favor of the people who come to his court.
According to lazyclerks.com, in September 2016 in a clip from “Caught In Providence,” a mom went to court to contest a ticket she got for running a red light. She was accompanied by her young daughter, who held her hand protectively.
Everyone knows that Judge Caprio loves having kids in his court. He had the little girl join him on the bench, and interviewed her before getting down to business. He found out a lot about her: she wants to be a vet, has a dog named Pineapple, and that she had a doctor’s appointment later in the day.
The two reviewed the tape of the mom running the red light, and it was clear that she committed an offense, but instead of asking the woman to defend herself, Judge Caprio turned to the little girl and asked her why she thinks her mother ran the red light, even if she wasn’t in the car at the time.
The little girl took her time, then revealed that she thought her mom was scared by the man standing on the street at the light.
Though the judge knows that the young daughter doesn’t know this for sure, he’s willing to give mom a break. He passes the verdict: she won’t be paying the fine!
While some might argue that the judge shouldn’t base his decisions on the opinions of children and that he shouldn’t be interviewing the girl if she wasn’t even present at the moment when her mother ran the red light, the fact that he takes his time and cares about the child’s opinion is actually endearing.
The man that was next to the mother’s car seemed a bit sketchy so what the child said was possibly true, but since the man didn’t seem to approach the car in a violent manner there’s no knowing for sure. Do you think that the mother should have just paid the ticket or do you think that the judge’s decision made sense? Watch the video to form a pertinent opinion.
