It all begins with pregnancy. A woman’s life change from the moment she finds out she is having a baby. From that moment she is covered with love, peace, and hope. She prays for the baby to be healthy, and for her to be able to deliver properly.
But what happens when a woman finds out that her unborn child has trisomy 13? There is any decision a parent should take? This couple’s story is heart melting. They loved their child before he was even born and they will continue to love him no matter the hardships. This is true love!

There is nothing worse than losing a child and it will break any parent’s heart, leaving them scarred forever. At least some parents get to see their children grow at least a bit before some condition or terrible accident takes them away, but for this couple things were incredibly horrible.
They had to go and shop for a coffin for their baby even before he was born.

In 2009 TK and Deidrea found out that the baby she was carrying suffered from the Trisomy 13 condition and that he would only live a maximum of a couple of hours after his birth.
According to liveaction.org, the parents knew something was wrong when their son, Thomas, was not developing correctly inside the womb. When they discovered that Thomas suffered from Trisomy 13 Syndrome, a chromosomal disorder that causes severe developmental delays ranging from profound retardation, malformation of the face and head, and incomplete formation of the brain, kidneys, or heart, they knew Thomas would likely live outside of the womb for a short time.
The doctors even recommend them to have an abortion, but they decided to give Thomas a chance and hope that against all odds he would survive.

The baby lived for a couple of days, but even though his life was very short he managed to move and inspire a lot of people. His parents filmed and documented every moment of his life and made a tribute to their son that is heartbreaking but shows the struggles of a parent that has to fight this illness as well as the power of God and of love.
A parent that truly loves his child would do anything for him and would choose life for them no matter how hard that might be on them.
Deidra, Thomas’ mother said that “We didn’t terminate because we were hanging onto some kind of hope that there was a medical mistake or that there was going to some kind of medical miracle. We didn’t terminate because he’s our son. When you make the toughest decisions, you can get the greatest joy out of those.”
And this perfectly sums up the opinion any mother would have about her children and there is no way a woman could give up on her child no matter how hard it is. And with the power of love, the child got a couple of days on this earth.
