VIDEO: 6-Year-Old Boy Has His First Pitch, but Soldier Mom Awaits!

Brody Floyd, a little boy from South Carolina is invited to the first pitch of a local baseball game. He was going to be honored as the son of United States Air Force Staff Sergeant, Georgina Walton, who was deployed. When his mom finally appeared, Brody ran into her arms and share an emotional moment. So touching!
It’s always hard when someone has to go to war or is deployed to a different country, but while we think about ourselves and the fact that we are going to be alone and risking our lives, there is something that’s even worse than this.
Those that are left behind waiting for them and hoping that they will return and worrying that they might die or get hurt have an even harder time than those that actually go off to fight for their country.
According to fox29.com, Brody Floyd was throwing the first pitch of a local baseball game in Charleston, South Carolina, when his mother swooped in to greet him. He wasn’t expecting her since she’d been away for a very long time.
The military mom surprised her 6-year-old on the baseball field after a 7-month deployment. Georgina Walton, who’s a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, said the moment was something she’d been waiting for forever.
Walton knew she wanted to surprise Brody once she returned from her deployment in Asia.
“I grew up going to the RiverDogs games. I looked to see when the games were and there was one the day after I came back. I talked to the coaches and they let him throw the first pitch of the game” Walton added.
Brody was shocked to see his mom. In a video captured of the moment, the 6-year-old grabs his mom and holds on tight.
“He was super wide-eyed. He couldn’t believe it. He just wrapped his arms around me and hugged me for a long time. It was exciting but very emotional,” Walton said. “I felt like I was gone forever. I got to see him and give him a kiss. I’d been waiting for that.”
Who wouldn’t be happy to see his mom after such a long time? The younger you are the longer time seems to be and what seems to us now as only a couple of weeks seems an eternity for a young boy. Still, the child waited patiently for his mother to come home so that they could see each other again and he knew that she loved him and wanted to see him just as bad.
The same thing applies to anyone who has ever had a family member deployed. You always miss them and wish they would just come home already, safe and sound and that you get to spend as much time as you possibly can with them until they leave again. While you know that they are protecting your country and you understand that it’s important you would still give anything to have them by your side.
