A View of Il Palmetto – the 137-Million-Dollar Estate

A gigantic Palm Beach estate which is called Il Palmetto will hit the market for the staggering sum of 137 million dollars.

The estate is owned by billionaire Netscape co-founder, Jim Clark, and once it’s on the market it will be the most expensive listing in the Palm Beach County as well as one of the most expensive homes in the entire United States of America.

This 1930s Italian Renaissance mansion has approximately 60350 square feet, six bedrooms, two elevators and even a 50-foot living room that has a ceiling completely and elaborately carved in wood.

According to miami.curbed.com, Clark, whose net worth has been estimated to be just under $2 billion by Forbes, paid $11 million for the property in 1999 before renovating it over four years, which included the creation of what sounds like some spectacular rooms. It has a total of 10 bedrooms.

He created the “Moroccan Room,” a mosaic-tiled indoor-outdoor entertaining area. An oenophile who auctioned a portion of his wine collection with Sotheby’s in 2014, Mr. Clark also built a carved limestone wine cellar with space for 20,000 bottles.

The 5.14-acre property spans the barrier island of Palm Beach, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Worth Lagoon.

On the ocean side of the property, Mr. Clark built a two-bedroom beach house with a waterfront infinity swimming pool.

On Lake Worth, he constructed a two-bedroom boat house with electric trolleys for his two antique speedboats.

The home also has an underground tunnel for direct beach access without having to cross the road because that’s how $137 million homes operate.

The next most expensive home for sale in Palm Beach is over $60 million cheaper, a little beachfront pad asking $74.5 million.
