VIDEO: Dad Tattoos Son’s Cancer Scar on His Own Head
People often say that nothing can compare to a mother’s love, but there is something that can.
A father’s love for his children is just as powerful!
It may manifest itself differently, but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful.
Josh Marshall won father-of-the-year contest after tattooing his son’s cancer scar on his own head.
Read the heartwarming story below, provided by Viral 4 Real.
Cancer, as we all know, is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Not all tumors are cancerous; benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body.
Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they may have other causes. Over 100 cancers affect humans.
Many cancers can be prevented by not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, not drinking too much alcohol, eating plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, vaccination against certain infectious diseases, not eating too much processed and red meat, and avoiding too much sunlight exposure. Early detection through screening is useful for cervical and colorectal cancer.
But how if your son got hit by this disease? Are you willing to go the extra mile just like what this father did for his son?
28 year-old Kansas man, Josh Marshall is showing off a picture of his tattoo which matches the large scar of his son to show support to him after going surgery for cancer.
The said photo was also included in St. Baldrick’s Foundation contest with a hashtag of #BestBaldDad competition in which 55 dads shaved their heads to show support to their sons and submitted their photo entries.
Marshall’s son Gabriel, which is now 8 years old, who was diagnosed with a rear form of brain cancer called “anaplastic astrocytoma” in march 2015.
Anaplastic astrocytoma is a rare malignant brain tumor. Astrocytomas are tumors that develop from certain star-shaped brain cells called astrocytes. Astrocytes and similar cells form tissue that surrounds and protects other nerve cells found within the brain and spinal cord.
Surgery is to remove the 2 more left imbalm with a scar on the right side of his head.
Marshall got a matching scar tattoo on his head on August 2015 to help boost Gabriel’s confidence.
The submitted photo received more than 5,000 votes and won first place.
Instagram users showed their respect and admiration for Josh, one wrote “U r a good father”, and the other one wrote ” I’m gonna be this kind of father if something like this happens”. Another user wrote, “Awe bless who’s is the real scar..?” He/She was impressed or perhaps confused who wore the tattoo and who has the real scar on his head.
Although a small of the tumor still remain, Gabriel’s cancer hasn’t grown, and he’s receiving scans once every 3 months. But through it all, at least his kid knows dad’s got his back..
Everyone can be called a father, but it takes a strong and responsible person to be called a “DAD”.
