VIDEO: Yeti Caught on Camera at Spanish Ski Resort

All those urban legends and myths – Chupacabra, Yeti, The Loch Ness Monster and so on – must come from somewhere.

Whether that “somewhere” is actual reality or people’s imagination and fear of the unknown, it’s always entertaining to watch and hear stories about alleged sightings of these creatures.

Now, supposedly, Yeti has been caught on camera at a Spanish ski resort by a holidaymaker!

Scared skiers and snowboarders in the resort of Formigal, in the Pyrenees, are keeping their eyes peeled for a large yeti-like monster that has been spotted roaming the slopes of the ski resort in north-eastern Spain.

The creature has been caught on camera by a holidaymaker – could this finally be the evidence needed to convince the world that the abominable snowman actually exists?

The slightly shaky and grainy footage appears to show a large, shaggy white figure walking upright on two legs and calmly making its way between fir trees on the snowy slopes of Formigal.

The skier who captured the video footage posted it online alongside the caption:

“Strange animal spotted in Formigal. What the hell is this?”

The posting sparked plenty of debate online about exactly what the creature could be. Some argued that it was a polar bear, others a soldier completing manoeuvres in mountain camouflage and some said it was just a man having a laugh in a furry suit.

The owners of the resort, Aramon, launched a frantic search of the area where the creature was sighted but have found nothing matching its description and the mystery continues.

“Strange animal spotted in Formigal. What the hell is this?”

A spokesman for the resort, which hosted the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in 2008, tried to reassure visitors saying: “We have spoken to the witnesses of the sighting to identify the area in which it took place and after combing the area we have found nothing.

“We believe therefore that there is no cause for alarm and that visitors’ security is guaranteed.

“In any case we will remain alert.”

The skier who posted the footage, but who has chosen to remain anonymous, is adamant about what he saw.

“A bear or a bloody Yeti? We’ve told the ski resort but they haven’t taken us seriously.

“I bet there’s something on the loose out there. I know what I saw.”

The ape-like creature, which walks on two legs, is supposedly taller than a man and is thought to live in the Himalayan regions of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet.

This mysterious animal has fascinated people for almost 100 years since a photographer on the Royal Geographical Society expedition of 1925 spotted an unusual creature in the Indian Himalayas and later uncovered strange footprints in the snow. There have been many reports of yeti footprints from climbers scaling Mount Everest since the Fifties.

In the meantime, remember, if you’re out on the slopes of Formigal, keep your family and friends close – and your smartphone closer, just in case.
