VIDEO: Man Commits Suicide After Killing 11-Month-Old Daughter
Tragedies happen and even though it may be painful and dispiriting to talk about them, we have to.
It’s important to discuss our issues and to be open about them.
We must constantly try to prevent future vicissitudes.
According to Viral 4 Real, a few days ago, a man murdered a 74-year-old man while streaming it live on Facebook.
A few months ago, a 13-year-old girl hanged herself while streaming it live on social media too. Recently, Facebook and other social media sites has become a platform for committing crimes and live streaming their acts. The most recent and most harrowing is that of this Thai father who murdered his own 11-month-old daughter and committed suicide on Facebook Live.
The harrowing footage from Thailand was recorded at a deserted building in the Thai seaside town of Phuket. Concerned relatives contacted police after they saw the clips of the girl’s death on Facebook. Unfortunately, the child and her father were already dead when they arrived at the scene.
Jullaus Suvannin, the police officer in charge of the case, said: “He was having paranoia about his wife leaving him and not loving him.”
Television images showed the young girl’s mother weeping and holding her daughter’s body, covered in a sheet, as she was comforted by family members.
Thai netizens voiced outrage about the clips showing the child’s killing.
“This is the most evil clip I’ve seen in my life,” said one user, Avada Teeraponkoon. “I couldn’t stand it for more than one second.”
Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook would do all it could to prevent such content in the future, but they have no plans of removing Facebook Live anytime soon.
Several crimes have been streamed live on Facebook this year.
According to Wikipedia, on 21 January 2017, in Uppsala, Sweden, Facebook users committed a live streaming crime, gang raping an unconscious woman for several hours. The crime was stopped when viewers of the Facebook live feed realized what was happening and phoned the police, who entered the apartment and interrupted the crime still in progress.
On April 16, 2017, 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. was shot and killed while walking on a sidewalk in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, United States.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Steve Stephens, posted a cellphone video of the shooting on his Facebook account, leading many media outlets, both during the manhunt and afterward, to dub Stephens the “Facebook killer”.
A warrant was issued for Stephens for aggravated murder. Two days later, he committed suicide by gunshot when cornered by police in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
In January 2017, a mentally disabled white man in Chicago, Illinois, was filmed being physically and verbally abused by four black individuals. The incident was livestreamed on Facebook, making the incident a live streaming crime.
The victim met with an acquaintance from high school at a McDonald’s on New Year’s Eve, and on January 3 was found by a police officer to appear injured while walking with a suspect on a sidewalk. The four suspects were arrested after the incident was livestreamed by one of the women on Facebook, and charged with hate crimes and other offenses.
