Can you imagine if Uber wasn’t available at that time?

Mistakes are inevitable during a wedding. Even with everything carefully planned out, it is unavoidable to make small mistakes that can make a huge impact on the wedding itself. For then bride-to-be Lilith Villamor Mata, she never thought she would come across a problem this big.

Lilith said on her viral Facebook post: “Okay na lahat ng suppliers, coordinators, relatives, entourage, etc… Umalis na lahat sa The Victor Hotel at nagpuntang church. Siempre ako bride, ako ang huling aalis dun.”

(Everbody was okay. The suppliers, coordinators, relatives and entourage had already left the Victor Hotel and were already at the church. Since I was the bride, I was supposed to leave last.)

In an unfortunate twist of events, the bridal car driver had apparently left the car keys inside the car!

She added: “Dapat on the way na kami. Sabi sa akin wait lang daw dahil nagkaproblema ang bridal car. Bakit kako. Naiwan ang susi sa compartment!”

(We were supposed to be on the way already. The driver told me to wait because he had left the keys inside the car’s compartment.)

Things got desperate for Lilith. Thinking about her groom and their relatives who must be waiting at the church made her anxious. That was when she decided to book an Uber ride to bring her to church instead.

As a black Toyota Innova picked her up, the bride and some of the people left at the hotel helped her decorate the car. After a few moments, the Uber car officially became a bridal car.

She recalls the unforgettable moment: “Habang nasa car, nagtatawanan kaming tatlo (4 kasama si uber driver) dahil kakaiba nga daw. Medyo nagulat pa yata si kuya nung unang kita nya sakin. Malay ban yang naka-gown ang pasahero nya. Haba pa naman ng gown ko.”

(We were all laughing inside the car thinking about how bizarre it was. The driver was even shocked upon seeing me for the first time. He had no idea his passenger would be in a gown. My gown was incredibly long too.)

Thanks to her quick thinking—and to the Uber driver who came to her rescue—Lilith was able to arrive at her own wedding on time.

According to Wikipedia, during the initial development of the Uber app, the company created a think tank consisting of a nuclear physicist, a computational neuroscientist, and a machinery expert who worked on predicting demand for private hire car drivers and where demand is highest.

In July 2012, the company introduced uberX, a service option which allows anyone to drive for Uber using their own car, subject to a background check and car requirements. By early 2013, the service was operating in 35 cities.
