VIDEO: Mom Pulls Out Something Weird and Gross from Child’s Gums

According to viral4real.com, nail-biters are often called people for whom normal grooming behaviors, like skin picking or hair pulling, have become virtually uncontrollable.

Psychiatrists say that people who tend to bite their nails or pull their own hair are under extreme anxiety. Instead of being triggered by, say, a hangnail, the pathological nail biter is triggered by driving, reading or feeling stressed out.

There are a lot of people who do this even when they grow older and they go back to this childhood tic because they feel more comfortable and they are able to calm down faster when they are stressed out.

Even though they know that they shouldn’t do it because of health issues and that it also looks really bad as a gesture and they ruin their nails they still can’t stop doing it.

Sometimes they do not even notice that they are doing it and they will continue doing it until someone points it out to them and explains that they should stop because it is disgusting.

Sara Guidry claims that her son, Kale, has been biting his nails for quite some time now. She then noticed that Kale had small, white particles in his gums, which prompted her to check them out.

She was shocked to discover four nail particles stuck in his pallet! She then used tweezers tor removed them.

To make sure her son’s mouth is nail-free, she checked his entire mouth and found 27 nail fragments embedded into his gums as well!

Using tweezers, Sara was able to remove all 31 particles, but was still shocked with the ordeal. She shares the experience on social media, hoping to warn other parents of the dangers of nail-biting.

Here are five risks to biting your nails:

Disease-Causing Bacteria – Your nails are an ideal location for bacteria to thrive, and that includes potentially pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli (which would love to call the underside of your nail tips home).

Nail Infections – Nail biters are susceptible to paronychia, a skin infection that occurs around your nails. As you chew your nails, bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms can enter through tiny tears or abrasions, leading to swelling, redness, and pus around your nail.

Warts Due to HPV Infections – Warts on your fingers caused by human papillomavirus, or HPV, are common among chronic nail biters. These warts can easily spread to your mouth and lips as you bite your nails.

Dental Problems – Nail biting can interfere with proper dental occlusion, or the manner in which your upper and lower teeth come together when you close your mouth.

Impaired Quality of Life – A study published this year found that people who chronically bite their nails report significantly higher quality of life impairment than those who do not.

These are all pretty important health issues and you should not continue doing this ever again. You should teach your child not to do it and make them aware of it until they stop.

You should be really careful so that you fix it until it actually becomes a real issue and a habit.
