VIDEO: An Old Man Walks Around with 12-Year-Old Bride and Shocks Everyone
When the people from Times Square saw that a retired old man dressed as a groom was walking around with his bride they were completely shocked. This doesn’t really sound like much because it’s not illegal or wrong to get married if you are old, but the detail that had everyone question everything was the age of the bride.
The bride was only 12 which made the whole thing seem disturbed even though in that part of the USA marriage at that age with the permission of parents is legal. Luckily, it was all just a social experiment.

This startling video shows the moment a 65-year-old man paraded his ‘child bride’ in front of stunned New Yorkers for wedding pictures.
Taken in Times Square, it shows the pensioner hugging a 12-year-old girl and posing for photographs in wedding outfits as horrified passers-by look on.
One woman asked the girl if she was OK, but before the schoolgirl could reply the elderly man said it was fine as he had her parents’ permission.
But she replied “What are you doing with someone her age, where is her mum?”
Another man in his twenties also intervened saying: “This is not right, you know this isn’t right.”
“You can not do this to a little girl.”
Eventually a woman led the girl by her arm and pulled her away.
In another scene a young man took her away and said he’d take her to police.
The man was called a “sick pervert” and was told to get his hands off her.
The marriage, although it would have been legal in the state of Massachusetts, was just a stunt using actors.

The original campaign was set up by a group called KAFA – which means “enough” in Arabic.
The clip offers a window into another world where thousands of young girls in Lebanon, Syria and around the world who are forced into marriage.
According to the UNFPA more than 1.2 billion girls will be forced into child marriage by 2050.

Trinidad & Tobago : a girl can be 12 with parental consent
Venezuela : generally 18 but is 14 for females and 16 for males with parental consent
Bolivia : the legal age is 21 but with permission from parents or guardians they can marry at 16 and females at 14. Exceptions can be made for pregnant minors.
Iran: The civil code set the legal age of marriage at 13 for girls and 15 boys but children can marry even younger with legal consent
Iraq: Legal age to marry is 18 but 15 with a judge’s permission
Syria: The legal age is 17 for girls and 18 for boys but girls have been sanctioned by religious leaders to marry at 13
Yemen: without their families’ permission, girls and boys can marry at 15.
Afghanistan: Civil Code says marriage of a minor girl whose age is less then 15 shall never be permissible – 16 is the norm
United Kingdom: in Scotland it is 16 without consent but in England, Wales and Northern Ireland it is 18 or 16 with parental consent or the permission of the court
USA : without consent it is 18.
However in Massachusetts it is 12 for a girl and 14 for a boy with consent.
In Texas a girl can marry at age 14 but a boy can’t marry until 18.
While Hawaii it is 15 for girls.
In California there is no minimum age with approval of a superior court judge and parental consent.
