One dead, 4 injured in knife attack in Hamburg – UPDATE
One person has died and others were injured after being attacked with a knife in a supermarket in Hamburg, the police reported. Citizens are asked to avoid the area as a crime scene has been put in place.
UPDATE: One person was killed in an attack by a lone knifeman in a supermarket in the northern German city of Hamburg on Friday, and four more were injured when the man fled the scene, police said.
UPDATE: Police said passersby tackled the man after he fled the scene, injuring him slightly, before plain clothes police officers could take him into custody.
UPDATE: The police said the man had suddenly started attacking customers in the shop before fleeing, pursued by witnesses. Officers detained him near the site.
UPDATE: The police have the suspect in custody but at this hour, there is no clear why the men committed the attack.
