Kombucha: Mushroom tea?

It is called by the ancient Chinese as the “Immortal Health Elixir.”

Last Friday night when I was hanging out with friends, I was introduced to a new healthy drink that was taking by storm in the alternative health industry. It was a Kombucha. What the heck is kombucha?

Kombucha tea is made out from fermented, lightly fizzy sweetened black or green tea, which are intended as functional drinks for their supposed health benefits. It is often called as “mushroom tea”, though it doesn’t contain mushroom; intact the tea contains a gelatin-like blob, in which sits inside the Kombucha as it brews.

It can be used to treat alternatively for digestive issues, rheumatism, skin conditions, memory loss and hair loss. According to a hemeopathic Dr. Alex Lauder, that the kombucha tea can be applied directly to your skin.

Kombucha is filled up with vitamins (Vitamins B and C), enzymes (flavanoids) and beneficial (lactic acids and amino acids) acids which can help our health. It contains probiotics and it is cheaper than the commercial probiotics. It has the perfect combination of nutrients to keep you healthy, emotionally balances and mentally alert whilst healing, improving and strengthening various functions of your body.

When making your own Kombucha, it should follow a hygienic preparation methods when you brew it. You need to monitor it and follow the steps in brewing it.

Just a warning for you, my dear reader, Kombucha contains 0.5% alcohol that should pose no problem for most of the people. It contains caffeine as it came from black or green tea. As the ancient Chinese referred it as the “Immortal Health Elixir”, which has the ability to relieve stomach ulcers and leaky gut.
