The Iconic Manor of Holmby Hills Is For Sale Again

The Manor from Holmby Hills in Los Angels is back on the market and this time it reached the huge sum of 200 million dollars. It was built for the TV producer Aaron Spelling and his wife Candy in 1988.

This huge estate has 122 rooms in total. One of the rooms used to be completely filled with dolls because Candy used it to keep her doll collection of over 400 antique dolls.

The TV producer Aaron Spelling is the one that belted out Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, Dynasty, Beverly Hills and 90210. This home is actually bigger than the White House, with 1500 square feet.

According to architecturaldigest.com, in a city that consists mostly of single family homes, few are as iconic as The Manor.

Now, it’s hitting the market for $200 million, which places it on another impressive list: one of the most expensive homes in the country. What exactly goes into a $200 million home?

The mansion is 56,000 square feet and includes 14 bedrooms and 27 baths. In total, there are 123 rooms in the estate, as The LA Times reports, which were architected to have specific functions.

There’s a room simply for cutting flowers, a humidity-controlled room simply for storing silver, and, not one but multiple, gift-wrapping rooms—which were so famous they were the butt of a joke on Will & Grace.

With that much space, there’s hardly reason to leave, which is why the home is also equipped with everything from a barbershop, beauty salon and spa—transformed from Candy Spelling’s doll room—to a nightclub, a study decked out with an aquarium, a tennis court, citrus orchard, koi pond, swimming pool with a pool house, and gardens which are contained within the 4.7 acres.

A full-time staff is nearly required to tend to all the land, which is why there’s also a separate service wing that has five maid’s bedrooms and two butler’s bedrooms.

The home, which was constructed in 1988, has been recently been updated with contemporary interiors by the current owner Petra Ecclestone, the Formula One racing heiress.

Her renovations are going to pay off too, if the listing price is met. Ecclestone purchased the home only five years ago for $85 million.
