President Trump met with his Cabinet today in a meeting that is being characterized in many reports as “bizarre.” Since his election last November, Donald Trump has often approached the duties of being President differently than his predecessors. This meeting proved to be no exception. During the meeting’s public portion, reporters and photographers witnessed the President receive praise from all of his Cabinet Secretaries. The display was also captured on C-SPAN.
At first, observers thought that only a few of the Secretaries present at the meeting would be offering praise to the President. There were indicators however that he expected all of them to speak. The President’s Chief of Staff also offered praise by thanking him for the opportunity to serve.

The Cabinet praise session came after President Trump opened his first-full Cabinet meeting with a review of all of his successes to date. Thus far, the President has signed executive orders and actions. The most well-known of them is the Travel Ban which is still suspended. He has not been as successful where legislation is concerned, however. Health care and tax reform are still in the legislative process and the funding for the border wall has yet to succeed.
President Trump’s choice to list his accomplishments so far and elicit praise from his Cabinet has been received as odd and somewhat troubling. The display evoked feelings of a reality show not unlike the Apprentice where contestants have been replaced with Government Officials instead.
While it is strange, some are asking whether or not this display of accomplishment and praise is closer to how the President prefers to operate.
