VIDEO: Woman Just Barely Survives Flood Waters in Peru

This terrible video shows a woman that is trying to pull herself out of fast-moving muddy flood waters in Punta Hermosa, Peru, on the 15th of March.

You can also see a cow that is also being swept along by the flood waters and luckily it eventually reaches a safer area.

According to the news reports, the 32-year-old woman was dragged for about 50 meters and she was taken to the hospital with cuts and bruises, but nothing really serious.

According to syracuse.com, a 32-year-old woman in Peru escaped with her life after getting trapped in a raging mudslide.

Evangelina Chamorro Diaz said she survived by grabbing tree branches and trying to build a makeshift bridge to drag herself out of the mud, according to Sky News. She is recovering in a hospital.

The mudslide occurred in Punta Hermosa, about 25 miles from Lima, Peru’s capital.

Heavy rains and hot temperatures have battered Peru over the past month. Flooding and landslides have blocked the country’s central highway and forced hundreds of people from their homes, according to the Daily Mail.

The woman somehow managed to avoid being swept away by the fast-moving waters, the Daily Mail said. She stepped over floating planks of wood to reach dry land.

Rescuers rushed in to help her when she neared safe ground. The woman’s pigs and cows were also rescued after getting trapped in the mudslide, Sky News said.

It has been two decades since Peru saw this much rain, according to the Daily Mail. Temperatures in some towns reached 20-year highs.

The Peruvian army rescued over 200 people in one area, including 123 children who became cut off from dry land during the floods. Over 30 homes collapsed during the flooding, according to the Daily Mail.

And at least 15 people died when a bus crashed into a ravine in central Peru during heavy rain over the weekend. Additional rain and poor visibility were impeding recovery efforts, the Daily Mail said.

RPP Noticias reported that a six-year-old girl died has died in Punta Hermosa. The floods, which were brought by heavy torrential rains, have also caused a lot of damage to property and some eroding sections of coastline.

Still in Peru, heavy rains have filled the streets of Chosica with mud but Peruvian Army helicopters  have carried out evacuations for the residents that were stranded by floodwaters in the northern Lambayeque region.

Because of these horrible times it seems that about 5,000 people have become homeless and another 80,000 have been affected in some way.

These terrible events have ruined a lot of lives and have scared people, but they should be happy that they got out alive and prepare better in case of other emergency to be ready.

It’s always better to be prepared for a disaster and for it not to happen then to be caught unprepared and have to suffer the consequences.
