Mike Dubke quits after three months at the White House

After a short three months, White House communications director Mike Dubke quits and power struggles continue.

As the White House continues to trudge forward it continues also to shed its staff along the way. According to Kellyanne Conway, Dubke tendered his resignation earlier this month but agreed to remain in his current position until Trump went on and returned from his first trip abroad.

Dubke first joined the team in February, after first pick Jason Miller, a campaign aide, backed out of the job in December. Dubke was known for founding Crossroad Media, a Republican political advertising company.

Dubke and others claim that the split is amicable, and that Dubke will continue to be a strong advocate for the President in his personal life. While there is no reason to believe this to be untrue, there are constant murmurings of further personnel changes, particularly as the Trump White House continuously deals with rumors of Russian contact. If the current administration has proven anything, it’s that they enjoy a good tussle for power.

Brought to mind here is Bannon and Kushner’s previous feud (which Kushner appears to have won). But with Kushner sinking deeper into the Russian controversy, he may be losing his footing. Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was seen leaving the White House on Monday, a potential replacement for Dubke who was ousted in June of the previous year, reportedly due to a power struggle with Kushner.
