VIDEO: This dad was told to take a picture of his baby. “He is a miracle”

The birth of a child is an incredibly special moment for all parents, when all they want to do is meet their new bundle of joy, greet him or her and make sure that the baby is perfectly healthy and happy. Some births though are more of an emotional roller-coaster than others, and when this father was told “Take a picture of your baby! He is a miracle!”, he made sure to capture that special and magical moment.

The birth of this baby was going perfectly normal. The mother was undergoing C-section just to make things go easier and smoother. However, as soon as the baby was out of his mother’s womb, doctors noticed that something was definitely odd with the child, and when they realized what exactly what was going on, they immediately told the father, who was there in the delivery room, to grab his camera and take a picture of his baby. The excited father started filming, as this allowed him to better capture those moment, when doctors said that “Your baby is a miracle”.

The issue was that the newborn had what is known in medicine as a “true knot” of the umbilical cord. This means that the knot in the umbilical cord cut off nutrients, oxygen and blood, which are all vital elements that allow the baby to function normally and develop.

What makes this baby a true miracle is that his condition usually meant that he has very high chances of dying in the last days of the pregnancy, if not during the birth itself, thus being a truly lucky newborn.

Complications regarding the umbilical cord are more common than one might want them to be, but fortunately there are plenty of early ways to tell whether there are issues during the pregnancy.

For example, if the baby shows signs of decreased fetal activity starting with week 37 of the pregnancy, then this is an indication that a cord knot might be present. Also, during labor, if the fetal monitor detects an abnormal heart rate, this is another sign that the baby should be delivered as fast as possible due to a cord knot.

This father was extremely lucky that his baby boy lived despite this life-threatening condition that could have taken away his life, so he will definitely cherish the footage that he captured in the delivery room. However, this is not always the case. Some parents live to see their babies with umbilical cord issues from which unfortunately they never get to recover. This means that some parents even experienced stillbirths, as the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby so tightly, that it deprived it from vital supplies of oxygen and various other nutrients.

This father understood how special and precious the birth of his baby son was, so he made sure to capture it. One day, when his son will grow up, he will definitely be able to see the footage and realize what a miracle it is that he managed to come out alive from such a dangerous situation.
