Colorado sees a surge in sales of recreational marijuana
The American state of Colorado has seen a surge in sales of recreational marijuana in early 2017, 9news.com reports.
Cannabis Benchmarks, a group that tracks the recreational marijuana industry, revealed that 2017 is already growing into a record breaking year regarding the sales of this product.
Colorado saw a $235-million total in marijuana sales – 30 percent more compared to the same time last year.
The recreational sales for January were up 38 percent compared to 2016m while February was the second-highest month for sales since recreational marijuana went legal, falling short of the $88-million record that was registered in September 2016.
Experts think that this increase is due to the fact that existing users are now spending more and the new consumers are starting to visit dispensaries.
Moreover, it is believed that both of these categories might be stocking up the product, for fear over a federal crackdown of the industry.
