U.S. Army veteran Jarred Wright and his wife, Nikki, were recently stopped by a cop from the local police in Hurst, Texas. Although he knew the officer, Jarred had no idea the reason behind his pullover.

Jarred, who has dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder since his involvement in the 2013-2014 Afghanistan war, told the cop that he had just been released from the hospital. The two first met in November 2016 during one of his meltdown episodes, so the officer had remained one of his advocates.

Jarred seemed calm with the entire situation, but the next thing the policeman mentioned puzzled the veteran. The cop said, “Well, I gotta be honest. The reason why I stopped you is because you’ve got a child in the car with no child seat.”

“I don’t have a child in my car,” Jarred replied to the child endangerment accusation. The cop looked through the backseat window and reconfirmed if he was sure about what he said, but Jarred was completely positive.

Jarred and his wife didn’t have a child strapped in a car seat in their vehicle; not yet anyway. Nikki was secretly recording the short exchange between the cop and her husband when a pregnancy test came into view.

The cop signaled Jarred to look at his wife, and that’s when he saw what she was holding in her hand. “We do have a child in the car with no car seat,” she said with a giggle.

Jarred grabbed the test and stared down at it with a jaw-dropping expression. He was in absolute shock by the news.

“I think that means you’re a daddy buddy,” the cop said matter-of-factly. Jarred couldn’t stop laughing nervously at the result he was witnessing right in front of his eyes.

Although this was supposed to be a celebratory moment for Jarred, his struggle with several health issues has affected his ability to keep a civilian job. The couple has created a GoFundMe account to aid them with a few money troubles before the new baby arrives.

He wrote on the page: “I’m seeking a donation for help with rebounding from this financial setback due to my inability to work as I seek mental health treatment and gain new employment to better support my family that provides a stable work environment suitable for my psychological disorder.”

The campaign has already reached $2,071 with a goal of earning $2,000. Jarred stated how he hopes to improve mentally and financially, so hopefully everything works out for the former Army serviceman as he looks forward to bringing a new child into the world.
