Egypt unveils massive statue of Ramses II
A massive statue of Ramses II has been unveiled in a ceremony at the Luxor Temple on the banks of the Nile, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Ramses II was one of the most powerful and celebrated ancient Pharaohs and the 11 meters tall statue was displayed just hours after archaeologists unveiled the 3,000 years old tomb of a nobleman.
The statue weighing 75 tonnes was discovered in between 1958 and 1960 and it was in 57 pieces. Also knows as Ramses the Great, the Pharaoh led several military expeditions and expanded the Egyptian Empire.
